Breathing new life into one of Auckland’s most prestigious suburbs, this project was conceived with a brief that called for the elegance and allure of a jewellery box.
While the design process explored a range of distinctive metal options, the ultimate choice was EURAMAX pre-coated aluminium in the shade “Middle Bronze.” Its combination of stability, colour consistency, and adaptability made it the perfect solution for the challenges of this intricate façade.
A critical factor was the malleability provided by the correctly specified aluminium alloy substrate, paired with a premium multi-layer PVDF coating system. This high-performance finish enabled the complex profiling demanded by the design.
Each panel not only had to interlock seamlessly but also transition direction at varying lengths, creating striking cross-sectional lines across the façade. The PVDF system, recognized as an architectural benchmark, not only guarantees long-term resistance to UV exposure and coastal conditions but also allows precise folding without the micro-fracturing common in lower-grade alternatives.
